Tummy

I think it was my friend Tiff whom is Due with #2 on August 8th, who inspired this conversation while we were all tucked into bed one night. Kaylie and Daddy were in the dbl, and Jack and I were in the queen, up north.

Jack: I used to be in your tummy.
Me: Yes when you were a little baby, you were in my tummy.
Jack: I wanted to come out because I was scared in there.
Me: You got too big, so you had to come out!
Jack: I am too big to go back in there now!
Kaylie: I was in your tummy too.
Jesse: Yep, you both were in mommy's tummy, now go to sleep!
Jack: (after some deep thought) Mommy, how did I get out of your tummy?
Me: Uh..... I will tell you someday when you are older.
Kaylie: (without missing a beat) Mommy just lifted her shirt, Jack!!
Mommy: goodnight jack and Kaylie I love you!

Meanwhile Daddy is chuckling!

Jack again.....

We have window locks on the truck and Jack tried rolling it down on one of our adventures, and said, "Daddy, this window is out of gas!"

WHo could resist chuckling at that!!

Jack..........

Standing on a cooler, I turned around and said, "Jack what are you doing?, You need to get off that cooler!!"

Jack: "Mommy, I'm eating the clouds"

Tick Talk

OK, so we went geocaching on Wednesday. I had never heard of this until last year, but 2 of the people in our group like to look them up, so we thought why not, this may be fun. We only found one last year. We had a list of about 6 to find (you program the coordinates into your GPS and find these little boxes, pill bottles, etc with logs, and little trinkets in them. So we went to the Town of Cook for the first adventure. My friend Jodie found it first. We then headed to the country and couldn't find the next location?? We then went on some back windy roads toward Lake Vermillion and Jesse was the lucky one to find this treasure (what the kids called it) under a bridge. We then decided that we'd try to find one more, on the way to this particular one we decided to see how close we could get to another one. Kaylie fell asleep in the van, and my friend Tiff ( 8 months pregnant) decided to stay with her, while the rest of us took on the 1.8 mile trek(who knows what we were thinking) Jesse, Jack and I were wearing long pants to keep the bugs away of course we had dowsed ourselves with lots of bug spray too. Here is the gist of my long story:::

About .4 miles into the trip, while huffing and puffing Mike looks down and sees WOOD TICKS crawling all over his legs, he says" I got some ticks" we all continue to look down and see also that we are covered in them!!!! (I am itchy just thinking about it!) We hurried back to the car and decided that we'd had enough geocaching for the day. I bet we picked off 100 ticks between the 8 of us. Thank goodness the kids were riding on shoulders and didn't have too many.

PS the mosquitoes and gnats were bad too, my kids are covered in bites, but it still was a fun adventure.

Back to the real World

Well. we are officially back from vacation. We had a fabulous time with our friends and so did the kids. The weather even cooperated, except when it came to loading everything up. Isn't it ironic that now that I'm home I can't sleep. I guess being in the great outdoors and having "days of fun"(thats what we call it when we go) is a lot more tiring than unpacking and doing 5 loads of laundry. So have fun reading the next couple of blogs for some tales of our family vacation to Ash Lake near Orr, MN.

SHoo Fly

This morning I woke up to that angelic voice singing shoo, shoo, shoo, shoo, shoo shoo, shoo, shoo. I got up and asked Kaylie why she was singing shoo shoo shoo. She said," There are bees in here and I was telling them to shoo."

Bees are flys by the way, we do not have bees in our house, just those pesky flies.

weekend and next week

I am leaving on Friday to go up to the cities, for Star of the North Games. I coach a 14 and under volleyball team. On Sunday Jesse and the kids will pick me up and we are headed to Orr, MN for our 3rd annual trip up north! Our friends Mike and Tiffany have a cabin there on Ash Lake, and we rent one across the lake with our friends Josh and Jodie. Between the three couples we have 5 kids between the ages of 2 and 5, and one on the way in August. So to say the least it gets interesting, when we are together, but I wouldn't trade this vacation for the world. Josh and Mike are Jesse's best friends from high school, we get along so well, and have lots of good laughs! I don't know if I'll be blogging next week, but I will tell you all about the trip when we get home on Friday. I doubt that Orr has Wi Fi.

shapes....................

As we speak Kaylie is doing a shape puzzle. I drew a blank when she asked me what the name of the 5 sided shape is, can anyone help?

Candy

We went to the Elgin Parade this weekend, and got lots of candy! Jack loves candy, and chocolate and any sweets. HMMMM I wonder where he gets that from!!! (Me me me) I can't hide it enough, he is always finding it!!! Its like he's got sensors that can identify it!

sharing toys........

Well I was woken up this morning to,"Mommy, its nice out, its time to wakey wakey." This was Jack. Then we went to the toy room, because daddy has been working for about two or three weeks straight (I lost count) and we had to be quiet so he could sleep. Kaylie was playing with Jack's beloved cars and he got mad and took them away from her. I told him that he should share, ans he hurt Kaylie's feelings, but Kaylie and I snuggled and she was ok. I asked Jack if he'd share a different bucket of cars, and he said," Those cars are big and mean, they will hurt Kaylie" I don't know where they get this, I love it!

The sun or the moon

Last night after volleyball we were driving up our hill, and Jack said, "Look at the moon!" Kaylie said, "Mommy, it's dark out but there is the sun" I told her that it was the moon, she thought about this for awhile and said, "No its the sun." Maybe it was the beautiful color of the moon last night, or being that it was full??!! Then Jack exclaimed, "The Moon is following us!"

These moments are so precious!

Jack: "Mommy are you leaving, Stay with us"

In the morning:
Kaylie: "Mommy, Mommy, Its nice out, wake up"
Mommy: "Come snuggle with me"
Kaylie: "No Mommy, get up" Come on, it's nice outside!"

Weekend Fun

Hi, We had a crazy busy weekend! We went out for dinner with our great friends on Friday night followed by mini golfing and bowling (not really things I am good at, but it was fun) My cousin Haile' graduated from high school, and we went to her party on Saturday. I was there all day to help out, and the kids were soooo good, they played in the neighbors yard on their play set almost all day. They had so much fun... Kaylie told me her muscles in her legs hurt that night, she must have played hard! Sunday I went to lunch with me high school girlfriends whom I haven't seen for a very long time! Then we went to Sex and the City (what a great girlfriend movie that is!) Sunday night we had our bowling league, I bowled awesome for once, I had a 150 game and a 229 game, then ended with a 95 game(oops) This has been my best bowling ever. We just joined a 6 week summer league, and we bowl with our friends from Wabasha, so it is very fun. Monday the kids and I got invited to go boating on the river with our friends. The water was a bit chilly, but We had a blast. I was especially proud of Kaylie, who climbed one of the sand hills all by herself, she has become very athletic!

What did they say?

So you're probably wondering what Jack and Kaylie say, here is what they each said yesterday:

Jack: (As I got out of the truck to go workout, Jesse droped me off) "Daddy, Mommy has a big butt!"
Kaylie: "Yeah, mommy does have a big butt"
Jesse: (trying not to laugh) said, "That is not a nice thing to say Jack and Kaylie

What are the lessons learned from this: 1. visit the gym more often!! and start walking more!!!
2. sometimes kids are a little painfully honest!

Last night when my little night owl (Kaylie) was resisting to go to bed for the second time (11:00pm) She came gallopping in our room, and said,
Kaylie: "I can't sleep"
Daddy: "Why not"
Mommy: "Why don't you sing a song"
Kaylie: (with a puppy face) "Mommy, can you come snuggle me in and sing twinkle twinkle to me.

How could you resist that???!!!

1st Blog

Well ......I was talking to a friend last night and telling her some funny things Jack and Kaylie say... She told me to write that stuff down. I said, should I write a book, but then I decided to blog, after reading a friends blog this morning it inspired me. Also it will help me keep track, and be able to read back and cherish these moments of two very awesome 3 year olds.
